"The other day, in the middle of his focused instruction, Danny complimented me on my punches. I panted out a "thank you" and went back to training. Afterwards, I thought that my meager "thank you" needed to become an expanded expression of gratitude, hence this testimonial. Truly, I thank Danny, Nina, and Steve for teaching me how to punch (and kick) with power, purpose, and most importantly for protection. Having trained with them over the last two years, I learned and practiced intense self-defense, and I continue to enjoy krav maga through the professional, knowledgeable, and gracious way Danny and staff teach it.

For those of you who may be hesitant due to various concerns, in my case, I had never taken anything similar to self-defense or martial arts before; I have had a couple of serious joint surgeries; I wear glasses; and I did not take up krav maga until my mid-forties. I give the biggest  “thank you” to Danny and staff for taking my concerns into consideration and for so expertly teaching me. I highly recommend you come check Berkeley Krav Maga out!"  - Lisa W.

"I came to Krav Maga primarily looking for an intense workout. But I found that, in addition to providing an unbeatable workout, Krav Maga teaches students how to disable an opponent quickly and efficiently, making the sport an excellent self-defense system. There aren’t any superfluous, showy moves—just practical, real-world advice that gets you home safely in the unlikely event of an attack.

While the system is top notch, it’s the level of instruction and general excellence that makes Berkeley Krav Maga such an ideal training environment. The instructors possess a rare combination of knowing how to push their students, while still remaining patient and encouraging. As a woman entering a training studio for the first time, I was relieved to discover a palpable sense of camaraderie in our studio—no attitude, no aggression, just a bunch of regular people who happen to love practicing Krav. I’ve always felt safe and respected, but never any less challenged than my classmates.

I would highly recommend Krav Maga to anyone, male or female, looking for a great workout and easy-to-learn, practical self-defense techniques." --Kathryn S.

"I have found Krav Maga to be a perfect blend of serious fitness training and practical, intuitive self-defense instruction.  Danny is a fantastic instructor; his extremely high level of skill and his experience putting it to practice shine through in every class; he knows the subject matter inside and out, and has a knack for being able to transfer his knowledge clearly and quickly.  The training sessions are a really enjoyable blend of mild to intense exercise (Danny is careful to make sure no one over-exerts themselves) and detailed instruction.  The atmosphere is ego-free and very good natured while at the same time
focused and serious.  Attending Krav has given me a sense of confidence and peace, and has eliminated 5-10 years' worth of neglect from my body.  I try to attend classes at least three days a week; I look forward to each session!" -

"I've studied quite a few different martial arts and the likes over the years, and Krav Maga is by far the effective self-defense method I've seen.  While almost any martial art styles can be applied to self-defense situations in one way or another, Krav Maga IS self-defense.  The system is intuitive, instinctive, and highly effective.  Anyone who is serious about self-defense should seriously consider Krav Maga." - Mike Y.

" I've been doing Krav Maga at the Berkeley school for about 2 years, I'm 56 years old. I've always worked out spending hours in a conventional gym, always thought I was in decent shape compared to other men in their 50s, but Krav has been a very different experience.

After only a few months of Krav, I lost 18 pounds going from 213 to 195. What's better is that I've maintained this weight with ease since I've been doing Krav, and I spend less time working out. On top of this, Krav workouts are focused and efficient, and just about the only time of my day that I'm totally present and focused and having a great time on something other than work or kids or other life demands. The teachers are terrific, patient and serious about making sure we learn the techniques correctly.

So, while we are getting into great physical shape and having a good time, we are also learning self defense techniques which are natural, and instinctive, and great to know and feel competent about. Also, the people who regularly attend are very diverse and fun, people who I'd never have met in other parts of my life. Krav has been a great additional activity to my otherwise very busy life." -

"I discovered Krav Maga through my brother. I've been recommended to go and give it a try. I've taken various martial art classes in the past and NOTHING compares to what you get out of Krav. While other martial art classes may be a great dicipline and workout, they are simply not as practical as Krav. What you learn here is what you can use out on the street. You learn techniques that may save your life one day. Remember, the rule to Krav maga is that there ARE NO rules. You learn to fight w/ everything you've got and defend yourself when in hostile situations.

A lot of women are intimidated by Krav maga at first, because you have to learn how to fight with a bunch of big sweaty guys. You sometimes find yourself being choked by someone. Or being surrounded by 10 people that are ready to whack you with a training pad. (Don't worry, just scream really loud and run for the exit.) All these seem initimidating at first, but that's exactly the point. Krav will train you to NOT be afraid of that kind of situations. So if you ever run into the same scenario on the street, you will know exactly what to do and not having that split second of hesitation or panic. This is also a fun and great way to work out.

I highly recommend it. Especially to those girls out there who are unsure about giving this a try. Simply think about this. What is your life worth? I think it's definitely worth it to at least give this a try." - Lily Y.
